9:46 am - What isn't my nerd type?
What Be Your Nerd Type?
Your Result: Literature Nerd

Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it's eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today's society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works.

It's okay. I understand.

9:13 pm - Steps and ladders
Holy crap, Silas walked! He took like 5 steps tonight. He's taken a couple steps here and there, but this time he actually covered some ground. It was awesome! Our friend Nathalie and her two boys were over, so after he walked I scooped him up and everyone cheered and clapped. He was like "WTF?" But then liked all the attention and started smiling and stuff. QTPie.

We found out today that Chad has made the cut for Round 2 of the hiring process at GRCC (in Auburn, WA). He is one of 3 that will be interviewed by the VP sometime later next week. Then they should make a decision by early part of the next week. He is also flying out to interview at the second CC (in Fort Steilacomb, WA - near Tacoma) next Thursday. So if it all works out right he might be able to interview with the GRCC VP in person, which would probably be good. And there is the possibility of using GRCC to force the second CC's hand. That's assuming a lot though.

Ugh. I just want all this waiting to be over!!! I'm going to gain like 50 lbs because of all the distraction/nervous eating we are doing. We found a cupcake dessert place in Birmingham which is, obviously since it's cupcakes, the bomb. They have little mini-cupcakes (the size of mini-muffins). I ate like 5 of them the other day. OMG so freaking good I almost cried and had an orgasm all at once. Afterward we were walking around downtown B'ham, and I started singing a love song to the cupcakes. Chad told Silas, "Silas, your mom never sings love songs about me." To which I replied, "No, just about cupcakes. And the dishwasher."

I should mention that there have been several updates to Silas's picture blog, http://businessofthebaby.blogspot.com. Definitely check it out if you like applesauce.

12:03 pm - Introducing....
Silas Tabor Hickox
Born 6/22/2006 11:47 p.m.
8 lbs 14.9 oz, 22 inches

He is, of course, perfect. Labor was tough, but we made it through drug-free (although not without a 3rd degree episiotomy - Silas was stubborn coming out!). I had a great birth team, including Chad, Mom, and our doula, Karen, and everyone at the birth center was fabulous.

We arrived home at about 1 a.m. this morning, and everyone has been sleeping pretty soundly so far!

Visit http://businessofthebaby.blogspot.com and http://www.growingfamily.com (password Hickox) for photos.

Detailed birth story to come soon.

Hi All.

I've decided to go Friends Only except for major major events (like the birth of babies).

Please comment and most likely I'll add you! :)
